The Welling & Crossley ED9PYE-400 9kVA Single Phase Standby Diesel Generator is a compact, canopy-enclosed diesel generator designed to provide reliable backup power when mains supply is unavailable. Powered by a trusted Perkins 403D-11G diesel engine and paired with a Crossley SLG series single bearing, 4-pole brushless alternator, this model is built for standby applications where dependable performance, long service life, and simple operation are essential.

This 400L tank variant is ideal for customers who need extended on-site fuel capacity and reduced refuelling frequency. The generator is supplied complete with a 400 litre bunded fuel tank, remote start/stop control system, auto-start control module, and weather protective acoustic canopy, making it a practical option for homes, farms, workshops, small commercial sites, rural properties, and essential equipment backup.

The acoustic canopy helps protect the generating set from the elements while reducing operating noise to approximately 70 dB(A) at 1 metre, or 63 dB(A) at 7 metres. The complete unit is mounted on a heavy duty fabricated steel base frame, with anti-vibration pads fitted between the engine, alternator, and frame to help isolate vibration and support smooth operation.

For safer and more practical diesel storage, the ED9PYE-400 includes a fully bunded fuel tank compliant with AS 1940-2004, providing secondary containment designed to help retain and recover spillage if required. The control panel includes an emergency stop button, and the battery charger helps maintain the generator so it is ready to start when needed.

The standard auto-start control module supports local or remote starting and provides key operating protection and monitoring functions, including alternator frequency and speed sensing, generator/load power monitoring, overload protection, accumulated power monitoring, engine speed protection, run-time scheduling, battery voltage monitoring, and static battery charging. It can also be configured to operate with an Automatic Transfer Switch for automatic standby power applications.
